About the blogger

I’m a fortyish woman with tropical childhood memories, a TCK. I used to work in the travel industry and I’ve lived in several countries.

I now live in Northern Europe where I find myself freezing during the long winters! And so I dream of sunnier places somewhere else. Somewhere, where the snow has already melted away.

I love to write. This is where you’ll find my stories – past, present, future, and imagined. Sometimes, my two little boys star in them.

I appreciate all of your comments, likes and visits – thank you! To contact me, simply leave a comment – I review them all before publishing.

Hope to see you here again!

All the photos in my blog posts are mine and were taken by me.

Please don’t use my photos without my permission and without crediting this blog. You are of course very welcome to reblog and share my posts, linking them back here to The Snow Melts Somewhere. Thanks!

Maybe it lost its lustre for me but I do know that some find it exotic. It doesn’t compare with anything European however in my opinion. My favs for Canada are both coasts if you ever come. Truly picturesque! And of course our Rockies from Alberta through to British Columbia. Hope you get a chance to cross over and visit.

Thanks for stopping by and Liking Sea Salt. I joined the blogging world in March — so we’ve both been at it about the same amount of time…..although I am much much older than you! 🙂 In my rejuvenatement period (don’t ever say retirement) and finding my voice in poetry and the cyber world. I especially enjoy the Return Policy that seems indigenous to this blogging world — as in someone Likes one of my poems and I get to “meet” them the next morning over coffee 🙂
Have enjoyed meandering your blog == armchair traveler is so so true. As a former dean of an MBA program, and in charge of our Global MBA, I’ve tranveled to many places. I always loved meeting the people and experiencing the culture. Someone along time ago told me that when you travel, don’t ever thing about assigning the term “better” or “worse” — comparison terms that carry definite judgement. Just think it’s “different”. I’ve found that helpful so many times and really set me up to enjoy. Hope you’ll stop by again….and very nice to meet you!

Thanks to you too for stopping by 🙂 I liked your little poem, nostalgic and summery. I’ve really enjoyed blogging, too – before I started, I didn’t really realise there was this WordPress community. It really is a form of social media – and good that it is, because it would be kind of boring to just be blogging to yourself with no readers. I’ve found other bloggers to be really friendly and exploring other people’s blogs is definitely part of the fun! See you soon here in the blog world, I hope! 🙂

Thank you for the feedback and the nice words! I’m happy that you liked my blog so far! I’m going to be posting (mostly) pictures from my earlier travels in a pretty random order, so stick around for more! 🙂 Have a great week!

My blog started out as being about living in Japan but has morphed into a retrospective travel blog too. I love going through my old photos. It has encouraged me to go through and sort out a lot of files and I have started carrying my camera with me all the time.

I’ve only been blogging a few months, but already I can see that it’s taken a life of its own; I originally tended to write about the different destinations I’ve visited but now I’ve become more focused on the pictures. Blogging has reawakened an interest in photography and like you, I also carry my camera around now… Your blog looks very interesting, I’m going to go explore it in a moment…

Hey there! We might have some things in common – I grew up in warm, sunny India & now live in cool, wintry Sweden 😉 Thanks for dropping by & following my blog. Wish you many adventures!!

Just to let you know that I’ve nominated you for The Creative Blogger Award. I would be delighted if you accept, but if you are unable to do so, that’s OK. The rules are on my post :

I know you’re going to think I’m a pain in the posterior for nominating you for this so close to the other one. 🙂 This one is quicker to do – just 5 facts about yourself, plus the nominations. MIllie

Hahah 🙂 Don’t forget the Liebster, so that’s 3 already, Millie! Well, I’m certainly very happy you thought of me and find me easy enough to approach 🙂 And of course it’s a huge compliment, too! I actually already drafted a post to the first one (2 Liebsters) but haven’t published it because it seems so LONG, I’m not sure anyone would be able to struggle through it without falling asleep! So, let’s see what happens! Thanks again, Millie! Enjoy the rest of your day!

I’m sure everyone will enjoy reading about you! I can never answer questions briefly, so I know how you feel about ‘long’. Some people write really brief answers – but I don’t seem to have the knack. 😀

Thanks so much for thinking of me, Cheryl! I do love quotes and the topic gives lots of freedom in interpretation, so I would be very happy to participate! Just need to gather my thoughts for a bit… 😀

I know exactly what you mean. I adore quotes too. And it kind of gave me a push to post this week when I was a bit down after losing our family dog. So I saw it as something I needed and not just another dreaded challenge 🙂 Ha Ha

Hi there, Hannah! Thank you so much for thinking of me! I’m not sure if I will accept; I have a few other nominations that I haven’t done anything about either – though at first I was planning on doing the award posts straight away. So this time I can already say that I don’t know for sure… I’ll think about it! But it’s always great to be remembered! Thanks again!

Considering your photos, I am sure you have not been freezing too much. It is great how you share your stories and photos. But yea, when it’s cold, I too dream of the warm places.. 😉

Have a great week!

Warm regards,
Tieme

Hey there, Just a quick Thumbs up. I think the next blogging courses for July are going to be put up on the Daily post tomorrow. I did the Blogging 101 and it was well worth the time and effort. If you’re interested check it out.
