It’s time to kick off Friendly Friday – a brand new photo challenge!
The challenge is hosted by Amanda from Something to Ponder About and myself, on alternating weeks.
It’s simple: each Friday, we’ll post a prompt and invite you to leave your response in the comments section.
Also include a link to the prompt in your post!
If you want, you can download our logo from the end of this post and add it as a widget or picture. Amanda and I have made two logos for the challenge, we each have one that suits our blog’s look! You’re welcome to use either one if you happen to be the type that likes logos.
There’s no deadline for participating, but the closer you are to Friday the more likely it is that people will see your link. Amanda and I are actually in completely different time zones so Friday is a loose term here! She lives Down Under and I live way up in northern Europe.
One of the best things about blogging, if you ask me, has been meeting new bloggers over here in the blogosphere and making virtual friends from all over the globe! So don’t be shy – get friendly and chat with other participants by following the links to their posts. Making new blog friendships can be inspiring.
Which brings me to our very first theme… this week’s prompt is Inspiration. Here’s my shot:
I’ve been thinking about inspiration for a long time – ever since I saw a comment on another blogger’s post last summer about how “everyone” is done with blogging. Like a collective inspiration drain-out! Do you agree with this thought?
Inspiration can be a fickle thing. But maybe we can prove that idea wrong! I certainly hope blogging isn’t a dying form of art.
I’d love to see (and hear) your tips for staying creative. What do you do when you lose your mojo, how do you get it back? What inspires you to blog, make photos, write stories, paint? Tell your story with a photo.
Your interpretation can be as loose as you like. Your photo can be new or old. It can be one photo or a whole gallery.
I’m looking forward to seeing your responses and I’m sure Amanda is, too!
As for me, my photography style is very spontaneous. While in other areas of life I’m definitely a planner, when it comes to photography I don’t plan. I’m not technical, I’m all about the moment. Moments that inspire shots and turn into memories. I capture what I see. That’s my inspiration.
And sometimes a photo can lead to an entire blog post. Or even an entire blog! I first started blogging so I could share my travel photos.
As an alternative interpretation of the theme, you could even use my photo for inspiration if you’d like to go about it a bit differently. Where does my photo take you, what photo of yours does it inspire you to share?
See you in the comments section, I hope!
Next Friday, hop over to Amanda’s blog for the next challenge prompt! Amanda has plenty of experience from hosting challenges and some of you might already know her. If not, this a good chance!

What a lovely challenge idea! I’d love to join you when I find the time! 😄 And such a cute photo – penguins are just adorable! As to inspiration, I mostly draw it from nature, books or other artists. 😊

Thank you! I will!
Any book really, sometimes even novels, but if you´re looking for something that triggers creativity, I can recommend Danny Gregory´s “Art Before Breakfast”. It helped me a lot a few years ago. 🙂

Snow, we must be astral twins! 😆 sometimes we are on the same wave (and often).
I haven’t seen this post – but yesterday I did a post about what inspires me right now. https://mexploring.blog/2019/01/13/inspiration-resources/
And Manja suggested I could participate in your challenge. I could definitely!
And jippi to starting this challenge! Love its name and love how you cooperate about it!

I saw your post earlier today while scrolling my feed on my iphone, and it got me thinking, but I was too busy to write a comment on the things going through my mind. The post was so “you”, the things that inspire you and that you’ve been blogging about! 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration in creating this challenge – it was your idea, after all!! 😉

Thank you, Snow! It is so us!
And no need to thank me – we re-inspire each other, which is great and how it is right to be, I guess! 🙂

Adorable penguins. Luckily i haven’t had too much writers block since i joined WordPress. Even in my uninspired moments there’s usually something going on in my life or the world to blog about!

A bit late, but here is my response to “Inspiration”: https://lenjourneys.com/2017/02/24/the-ruin-of-a-formidable-kingdom/
I chose these photos of Angkor because they are the source of inspiration for Cambodian and national pride.

Hope so too, Amy! My next prompt is this Friday, ie. in 2 days! 🤗 But I know what you mean! Lately, I haven’t entered many of the great challenges other bloggers have because I’m just too busy and getting organised seems hard for some reason! So I’m hoping hosting a challenge will keep me blogging regularly 😊 You’re welcome to participate anytime you feel like it!

What inspires me? Any and everything. I just have to be OPEN to it. My headspace isn’t always ideal and that’s when I don’t do much. But when it gets better, the flood gates open.

Thanks for looking at an oldie! I’m the same with inspiration. If I’m tired or stressed, no use. I need to be relaxed and well rested to let my mind loose.
