Autumn Series: Sunlight

Like the previous post in the series, these are from a park area in downtown Helsinki, Töölönlahti Bay.

I was sighing in awe as we walked along the path circling the water – an hour long walk as we stopped several times to admire ducks and trains. One of my two-year-olds was awake for the joyride, the other one sound asleep.

Remnants of a past summer: an empty cafe area

It was such a treat. Yoga for the brain. Candy for the eyes. Fuel for the veins.

My mind whispered cautiously, Turn your nose towards the sun and inhale… let it keep you warm for the next 7 months.

Stunning silhouette and I love the little Finnish cafe hut.
Your words remind me of the Norwegian saying, “turn your face towards the sun and the shadows will always be behind you. “

Now if you could only rely on one or two days like that every month, getting through the winter would be a breeze. Still, a day to be savored anywhere.

The soft light and those warm tones… I don’t think there can be a more romantic season than autumn, specially up there in the north! So beautiful and so ephemeral…

Thanks, Mercedes! Romantic is a good word for it, since it’s also a bit of an illusion. It brings to mind coziness though hanging out in the rain is not cozy at all. 😊
