Yay! Atmospheric! And you got ice already. I remember around the corner there were large icebrakers waiting for action. 🙂 Lovely pictures. I wish you and your family a merry christmas.

You remember correctly: the icebreakers are still right there, at the same spot! Very little ice, and I was quite surprised to see any at all! Merry Christmas to you too!

Great selection of photos. Love the nighttime shots, or possibly late afternoon in your part of the world! The waterfront sparkles a good deal more with the lights on, and I liked the sheepskins on the cafe seats. Do people sit outside this time of year?
I hope you and your family have a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Thanks, Graham! They aren’t nighttime shots, they are daytime shots! Unfortunately. People don’t sit outside, except smokers who will sit outside in any weather, smoking like it’s summer.
I wish you a beautiful Christmas, too!

Ah yes, the things people will do for a smoke!

Finally a gingerbread house that I would love to eat.
I’m surprised how little snow there is on the streets of Helsinki.

Helsinki usually gets snow in February… and it stays around until May, when everyone else in Europe is already having sunny picnics!

I used to beg my Mum to make me a gingerbread house like that one, it’s lovely. Good thing to eat to keep the cold out! Your photos make Helsinki look very cold but I love the light effect with the low sun. Merry Christmas!

Hah! We cheated and bought baked parts that just needed assembling and decorating! The kids did the decorating – definitely the best part of having a gingerbread house, if you ask me!
As for the weather, it was -12C today and with the wind factor, the weather report told us it ”felt like -20C”🥶 Merry Christmas!

funny to think how cold it must be there as we are sweltering in a hot summer! merry xmas.

I wouldn’t mind having a summery Christmas but what can you do. It’s cold and dark here, no snow (which is normal: I don’t remember a single white Xmas while I’ve lived in Helsinki). Merry Xmas, Sherry!

You take some lovely photos! And I enjoy posts like these, because I’ll just imagine being in your part of the world, so I do stare at each photo for a good number of seconds, lol. Looks cold and nice, which is a far cry from my tropical Malaysia.
Anyhoo, saw that I had linked to this post, but never really commented on it. Thanks for this post!

Thanks, Stuart! ☺️ I grew up in the tropics and never liked winter or how dark it is. But I’ve noticed my readers like my winter pics, hahah, I guess it looks nice from a distance!! 🙃
