Friendly Friday Photo Challenge

It’s time to kick off Friendly Friday – a brand new photo challenge!

The challenge is hosted by Amanda from Something to Ponder About and myself, on alternating weeks.

It’s simple: each Friday, we’ll post a prompt and invite you to leave your response in the comments section.

Also include a link to the prompt in your post!

If you want, you can download our logo from the end of this post and add it as a widget or picture. Amanda and I have made two logos for the challenge, we each have one that suits our blog’s look! You’re welcome to use either one if you happen to be the type that likes logos.

There’s no deadline for participating, but the closer you are to Friday the more likely it is that people will see your link. Amanda and I are actually in completely different time zones so Friday is a loose term here! She lives Down Under and I live way up in northern Europe.

One of the best things about blogging, if you ask me, has been meeting new bloggers over here in the blogosphere and making virtual friends from all over the globe! So don’t be shy – get friendly and chat with other participants by following the links to their posts. Making new blog friendships can be inspiring.

Which brings me to our very first theme… this week’s prompt is Inspiration. Here’s my shot:

Penguins in the wild – Patagonia, 2014

I’ve been thinking about inspiration for a long time – ever since I saw a comment on another blogger’s post last summer about how “everyone” is done with blogging. Like a collective inspiration drain-out! Do you agree with this thought?

Inspiration can be a fickle thing. But maybe we can prove that idea wrong! I certainly hope blogging isn’t a dying form of art.

I’d love to see (and hear) your tips for staying creative. What do you do when you lose your mojo, how do you get it back? What inspires you to blog, make photos, write stories, paint? Tell your story with a photo.

Your interpretation can be as loose as you like. Your photo can be new or old. It can be one photo or a whole gallery.

I’m looking forward to seeing your responses and I’m sure Amanda is, too!

As for me, my photography style is very spontaneous. While in other areas of life I’m definitely a planner, when it comes to photography I don’t plan. I’m not technical, I’m all about the moment. Moments that inspire shots and turn into memories. I capture what I see. That’s my inspiration.

And sometimes a photo can lead to an entire blog post. Or even an entire blog! I first started blogging so I could share my travel photos.

As an alternative interpretation of the theme, you could even use my photo for inspiration if you’d like to go about it a bit differently. Where does my photo take you, what photo of yours does it inspire you to share?

See you in the comments section, I hope!

Next Friday, hop over to Amanda’s blog for the next challenge prompt! Amanda has plenty of experience from hosting challenges and some of you might already know her. If not, this a good chance!

  1. Yeah, here it is, the new challenge! I love the logo and the “inspiration” as the first theme. I’m often late in responding to challenges and I know that’s not smart because not as many people see your post after they post their own pieces, so I’ll try to be extra fast and do it today. Also, today as I turned on my laptop, there was a photo of two penguins over my screen! (I’ve got one of those changing screensavers with who knows whose photos.) I thought of you immediately even though you posted your penguins just now. 🙂 I love it when this happens.

I wish a great future to your Friendly Friday challenge and both to you and Amanda. Let the posts start rolling in!

  2. It is appropriate to choose ‘inspiration’ as the theme for this initial Friendly Friday Photo challenge, as your blog has often inspired me, Snow!! From talking about our childhoods in Australia, (still have to do a follow up post to that, one day), to exploring Helsinki, posting ‘cool’ photos, travelling to distant places and creating this challenge.! So excited to see what everyone comes up with.
Inspiration is something that sparks our creative urges in whichever field we choose to display them.
I love your spontaneous photos, so reflective of that instant moment frozen in time!!
See you at my blog Friendly Friday next week!
    Amanda
