Its so limiting, we always take two weeks in the summer to be with my mum, which leaves me 12 days to spread over all their holidays and random sick days! I could do with about 30 days! In my dreams.
Yeah I know! Also all the pressure to use weekends doing things we ”should be” doing, like cooking nutricious food, going out to get some fresh air, making new toddler friends, doing potty training… in reality we are so sleep deprived we need to get some sleep on weekend mornings, hubby and me taking turns, then the boys have their midday naps, they eat 6x a day and we clean up after them, then it’s already dark outside and the day is gone!!! Sometimes we manage to go shopping for more clothes since there are 1000 different micro climates in our 4 seasons and we always seem to be lacking something essential for the boys!
I am quite lucky on the weekends, the boys tend to go to their Mums for a night, or even two. I then get to do all the housework annd stuff, but always find time to go out for a walk (hence my blogs!) on a nice cycle ride.
Tima has really been on my mind recently, you spend so much of it doing the boring but essential things, bathing them, homework, cooking, there is little left to actually just be. I have agreed with my boss at work to do slightly less hours so I can pick them up earlier a couple of nights a week and actually engage with them properly.
Good for you! I’ve noticed that too, I see the kids for about an hour in the evenings before bedtime… when am I supposed to all the necessary things, there is no down time… would be nice to just enjoy their company! We play together in the evenings for a bit but they are tired and cranky…
I think the modern worlld is quite damaging on our children. It seems we have gone from one parent to tewo parents working, but no-one is any better off!
Yes, I received a lot of comments on an earlier post by friendly bloggers saying maybe I could work part time instead of full time, to spend more time with the kids. But it’s not a choice! Life is very expensive over here!!!

You know, I didn’t know you were based in Helsinki. That’s somewhere I always wanted to visit.

You should hop on a plane then! It’s a safe destination with kids 😉 But may I recommend summertime?! 🤣

We will see. My biggest problem is time. To do anything really. One of the downsides to working full time.
