Another post inspired by Marina at mexploring.blog. She suggested a guessing game with photos… I’m at a stage where I feel like experimenting with new things on my blog, so why not?
Hmm, how to do this? I decided to recycle some photos from my older posts. Those of you who have followed my blogging journey from the beginning will have seen these already, but many of you probably haven’t. They didn’t attract a lot of attention when they were published because I was a new blogger back then without many readers at all.
So, can you guess where these five photos were taken?
I would love it if you took a wild guess (or an educated guess) and then explained the reasoning behind it!
Of course, you could always do an image search but where’s the fun in that? This isn’t homework that you must complete. Who cares if you’re right or wrong! So maybe put away your google fingers for this one and just guess with your eyes and heart. Give your fingertips a well-deserved rest, and do some yoga for the mind… let it wander…

If the last photo seems too hard (to me, it does!), let me tell you that it was featured on Monday Mystery Photo over at Amanda’s blog Something to Ponder About a while ago, and I was stunned when someone guessed correctly straight away!
By the way, do have a look at Amanda’s blog too, her Monday Mysteries are legendary!
I’m looking forward to your guesses and explanations – I hope you have a minute in your busy day to play with me!
I’ll tell you the answers in my next post later this week.

What a beautiful guessing group. I don’t wish to spoil the game for others so I’m not gonna reveal anything! Said that: I’m not sure at all about the last photo, not even about the country… could be either this or that. 🙂

Thanks MM! Well, you’ll find out in a few days what the last pic was 😄 (It feels weird saying that you have to wait a few days when nowadays no one waits for anything anymore, everything has to happen instantly!)

That’s right, make us wait, SMSW. When your babes start to watch cartoon, show them one and make them wait for the next one till the next day. And goes the same for TV series. 😀 One week in between! As we had it! 😉 Builds the character!

Hahah! Can you imagine waiting a whole week now?! 😁 Though I seem to remember that Inspector Gadget, my favorite TV program, came every day in Australia, or so it seemed. Then when we moved to Finland, everything came only once a week. (And no Inspector Gadget). Builds character, hahah! 😉

Aha. Now I find the shoe is on the other foot as I am the one trying to guess!! And it isn’t easy at all. Except for the last photo and I won’t spoil the fun for that one as it seems like I would be cheating! But i will have a guess and am going to say the glacial ice is from Iceland or canada?
Thanks for the mention, my friend!

Hahah yes, the table has turned!😂 Whenever I see a post like this I always think of your Monday Mysteries, to me they are the original ones! Anyway, guessing is hard, isn’t it?! 😄 Thanks for playing along, Amanda!

I have no precise ideas for any answers but I liked photo #3 as it looked like the South of France – it made me think of Nice with its windows and shutters… then the car parked in front of the building made me realized I was completely wrong as well as the design of house number. So I’m thinking Spain (because of the shape of the door)? Argentina (I’ve never been but that is how i imagine it)?…

Let me tell you you’re not far off, at all! 👍 Thanks for playing, merci! I loved reading your reasoning behind the guesses. There is definitely much to be read in the details of that photo… Your answer also made me wonder what the weather is like in Nice right now? It must be so sunny and warm there!

Wow! This is pretty hard. Let me make an attempt:
1. Chile
2. Iceland/Finland (are two possible answers ok?)
3. Palma
4. The airport in Finland
5. Scotland
The above answers are given with no confidence at all 😊

Thanks Isabelle for playing!! I’ll let you know how it went in a couple of days 😁 Ps. Your answers make me want to travel!

I look forward to the revelation!! Honestly I don’t think I’ve got any of them right 😌 But it’s fun!
I’m currently in the airport in Helsinki (yeah your region 😁) waiting for my connected flight to Shanghai. WordPress might not be available there but I’ll catch up with your posts when I’ve got a chance. Talk soon 😊

Wii, guessing games! *feeling like a muse and blushing a little bit* thank you for sharing the inspiration, dear!
I have really NO idea and I don’t possess the google fingers (sweet name) so I will go just straightforward guessing. I haven’t been beyond Europe, so that makes it even easier, haha. As you say, I just do the mental yoga, let my mind wander and follow the intuition.
This is what it said (so far).
1. Ecuador (no idea why). Spanish language, but the rest? It seems like you’ve been there, so that’s why.
2. Patagonia. Bc this how the end of the world must look like))
3. My intuition said Cuba, but it really doesn’t look much like Cuba. And Spain. So let it be Cuba/Spain.
4. Frankfurt airport. Just because)))
5. Greece? The orthodox mystic in me woke up and said this word.

Thanks for being a muse and also joining the mental yoga 😆 Loved the explanation for number 2!!! Hahahah!! 😂
You are very close with all your answers and one of them is absolutely spot on 😎 I’ll reveal the answers later!

Oi oi, take care and don’t make me too proud of myself :))) *leaving for the wardrobe and searching for some muse dress to make it totally true*
Looking forward to see the answers! Will there be a prize to the winners? :)) (just joking. This is a normal question when you work with kids though. They always have to know. So you always have to get an answer ready)))

I’ll have to keep that in mind 😉 One blogger just suggested in another conversation that I send her some blood pancakes, would that be a good prize for the winners, I wonder? 😄…Well, to tell you the truth, there are no losers, we are all winners here! 🙂

Yeah, I remember that was the school food (and I asked myself: is it smth they sell in the cantina? The kids here eat only their lunch boxes). So is it a true food – or that kid was making it up? To shock you, the beach bum/kangaroo neighbor? 🙂

It’s a real food, unfortunately…
😳 School meals are free here (well, we pay for them in our taxes). Not in Norway?
LikeLiked by 1 person
No school food here, not in the primary school. Norway is a country of cold lunch boxes (cuz we are so rich, lol). I guess, in videregående skole, the last 3 years, they have cantinas.

This is why your schools are the best, haha. Every time there is a discussion of why Norwegian schools do not well in PISA, they say here: “look, in Sweden they have warm lunches. This is why we are doing so poorly” haha.

Surprising that you don’t have that. Well, it’s warm, it’ll fill your stomach, but it’s not gourmet 😉

In this tough country we know better ways to spend our tax money (don’t ask me which please, I have little idea 😆 must be on family offers in this city, hehe). Like our heroes we eat bread with some sweaty cheese or leverpostei on it. Talk about gourmet! 😆

Oooohhh, I love these guessing posts, and Amanda’s MMP is the best!!
I’m not sure about any of these, so here goes…
1.Mexico
2.??? Somewhere cold!!!
3.Spain or South America somewhere??
4.U.S
5.Maybe Turkey or somewhere in the Middle East.

Very good guessing!!! Can’t say more just yet, but I can tell from your guesses that you have certainly been traveling… 🤗 Amanda’s MMP really is so fun – though I must admit I’m a terrible guesser myself and usually am completely wrong! But it doesn’t ruin the fun for me, I just still keep on guessing 😁

As I’m one of your new followers, I certainly haven’t seen these photos before! And I don’t know how to find them via a google image search – can you really just put a photo into google and it tells you where it is? Amazing!
My guesses – the first one is obviously a Spanish speaking country. Somewhere tropical as there’s palm trees, is it Cuba?
No2 I have no idea, total guess, Norway?
No3 no cues here, so I’m guessing Spain? Canary Idlsnds?
No4 is probably the hardest to guess, I can’t find any clues at all. I’ll guess Holland. Hahaha I hear you laugh…..
No5 – no idea, but I’ve seen old painted churches like this in Greece. The window doesn’t look Greek though, is it Greece?
I’ve definitely scored 0/5……

Thanks for giving it a go, Georgie! I’ve never used an image search either and I don’t know how it works exactly. Apparently, you put the image url somewhere and it searches for similar images… or something like that! (Or maybe I dreamt the whole thing?) Anyway, I’ll reveal the answers soon! 🙂

Picture1 – I would say somewhere in Spain, maybe Canary islands? Picture 2: this one is easy, it must be the Kalahari, just south of Phuduhudu. Picture 3: Perhaps Havanna? Picture 4: I haven’t got a clue! It most certainly is not the Kalahari just north of Strampriet. Picture 5: Aya Sofia?

Wait! if forgot to mention the reasons for thinking so. But, well, they just are wild guesses I guess. 🙂

Hi Snow. I might be right about a couple but they are overall quite difficult I think. Let me try anyway
1. Somewhere in South America is all I can say because of the language. Maybe Argentina?
2. Patagonia
3. Somewhere in Italy?
4. Could be somewhere in Spain due to the distant buildings and the hill.
5. The hardest! Anywhere in Europe, although the colors tell me that it could be one of the countries where they follow Orthodox Christianity.. Greece, Bulgaria perhaps?
I missed the last photo in Amanda’s blog, but I also love her MMP posts! What a fun idea for a blog post 🙂

Okay here’s my guesses;
1. any Spanish speaking country – Spain or Latin America – I’m guessing Mexico.
2.Moreno Glacier, Argentina.
3. Havana
4. An airport somewhere – Cape Town?
5. Aya Sofia in Istanbul.

This is fun! I haven’t been around WP much lately but I used to check out Amanda’s ‘Monday Mystery Photo’ posts – such a nice idea for an online community game. 🙂
Here are my guesses:
1- It’s in a Spanish speaking country because of the text in the store sign, I would say probably in South America but can’t guess a specific country.
2- Alaska or Iceland? The two places that come to mind when thinking of icebergs.
3- The architecture and the sun make me guess it’s somewhere in Mediterranean Europe?
4- Looks like there’s a big city and mountains in the background, I have no idea – perhaps in Rio (Brasil)?
5- Haha this one is hard! It looks like the interior of a church but I really don’t know where.

Without looking at other comments I got Brazil? …Or at least somewhere South American-y for no.1. For no2. Switzerland …I mean this could be lots of places, Iceland? Austria? For no.3 Mexico…or somewhere where they have those bright, bright almost citrus colored buildings! Chile? Cuba?….What have I won? I am available to pick up my new car at any time. 😀
