Experimenting in a forest by the sea with a borrowed camera and macro lens, and with my own camera.
I have no idea what mushrooms those are – don’t go and eat them!

Ooooh, i love the mossss! And the mushrooms. Very sharp and nicely moody. I wish I had a pro camera I could borrow. 🙂

Thanks, MM! It was surprisingly hard to just jump in with a different camera, had to do everything differently. Would love to learn to do abstract nature macros, but I don’t have time to learn. Maybe I’ll save it for retirement, hehee! 😀

The mushrooms look amazingly spiritual… 🍄😊
We are going to Helsinki and Lapland next year!! I am so so excited, do you have any recommendations for 2 days in Helsinki? Thanks so much!! 😄

Ooh, exciting! 🙂 Hope you enjoy your visit! When are you going, which time of year? Finland is very seasonal, Helsinki can seem like two different places in winter vs summer. I’m a big fan of Lapland, it’s so amazingly quiet and peaceful there! Helsinki is quite small so you can see a lot in 2 days. Personally, I love walking around and looking at the interesting jugend architecture in the central residential areas. There are also lots of little cafes for some coffee and cake 🙂 If you like sweets, try Finnish chocolate by Fazer! (Available everywhere.) I would suggest visiting the Kaivopuisto park, the Suomenlinna fortress island, (in the summer, an island called Pihlajasaari would be nice)… These photos are from an area called Uutelanniemi a bit further away from the center. I have an old blog post with some more tips: https://thesnowmeltssomewhere.wordpress.com/2016/03/24/travel-tips-helsinki/

Oh, and there’s a nice-looking pretty new sauna + restaurant here: http://www.loylyhelsinki.fi/en/front-page/
I haven’t been but have heard good reviews.

Thanks! A Pentax K-3 and the lens a smc PENTAX-D FA Macro 100mm F2.8 WR. My usual camera is just a mirrorless Olympus E-PM1 mini! So it was quite a different experience!

That sounds like a fine macro at 2.8.
Yes, it’s a different camera than your mini. Are you thinking about changing? Olympus has great mirrorless in the OM series.

I would love to upgrade but I don’t have time for photography now with my twin babies. When they grow up a bit I will. I have ideas for macro photography 😊 I’ve really loved my simple Olympus and would definitely consider another Olympus. I remmeber you use one, right? 😊

Twin babies! How wonderful but double work, and I can imagine that you need more practical solutions for your photography. Your camera is already very good though and you can later go for another one, if you wish. Yes, you have a good memory. I do have a EM-10 and I am testing the EM-5 at the moment.

Macro photography is fun – lovely shots! I never had the opportunity to try one, but I got a tiny macro lens to clip on my phone and you can get really creative with it. Perhaps that could be an option for you too? 🙂 I’m really intrigued with the forest by the sea, it’s so uncommon for me to have these two together. Sounds like something from a fairytale… ✨

Yes I’ve heard of those clip-on lenses, thanks for reminding me! Will check them out 😊😊 There’s forest everywhere over here 😋 even in the city!
