I would have liked to entitle this photo “The Escape”, but I guess that sounds too dramatic, even for me! So let’s just call it “Night”.

Love the mood and feel of this photograph, the way it leads your eye from the darkness below to the illuminated space at the top of the stairs. Very nice!

Some of my favorite walks were in Paris. I did the Michelin guide in Jan 83 when my dad was at work and did them again with my girlfriend – whose now my wife in 86 and again in 93 after we were married. In Paris I could walk and walk – there is always something to see, smell, and taste – a boulangerie, patisserie, or chocolatier. Thanks for the walk back in time.

I’m glad there are other people out there who enjoy walking around in Paris as much as I do! Thanks for commenting! PS. I wonder if Paris (on the outside) has changed much since 83?

I like this. The eye travels up the stairs and there is a sense of mystery. Cheers!

Thanks! A bit noisy/not quite sharp, but maybe it suits the mood!

I find this picture very intriguing. I want to climb that staircase and find out where it goes. Great capture. 🙂

Thanks! 🙂 I like it too, if only it were sharper and better quality…

I think ‘Escape’ would suit that photo. I can well imagine a big chase up those steps. Men in dark cloaks – with swords, of course: all nicely ‘period’ attire. ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ type of thing. 😀

I thought of someone running up the stairs, but not in dark cloaks and armed with swords! Now this is getting interesting! 😉 Thanks, Millie!

A bit of swashbuckling now and then is good for the soul. (Well, I think so, anyway.) 🙂

Agreed! Had to look that word up and I love the sound of it! 🙂 Wouldn’t have connected it with this photo though!

Oh, swashbuckling’s always been on of my favourite words. Cloaks and swords and heroic or dare-devil deeds – all the way up those steps! 😀

It’s now my new fave word, too! (Hmm, I wonder If you’ve featured it in your WOW posts? If not, it would be great for “S”!)

Now, that’s a definite possibility for my ‘S’ post. Thank you for suggesting it! I should have thought of it myself. I bet I can find some great pics to illustrate it, too. I haven’t done a WOW post this week – just didn’t have the time. It’s in danger of becoming ‘Word of the Fortnight’ at this rate. 🙂
