My memory is fading… did I take this through a bus window, or from a tuktuk? Or did we make a stop at some point?

Thanks! I like how it turned out, too… gives me a longing feeling. I’m flattered to think it could be a book cover, so sweet of you!

Just learned a new word and yes, fernweh describes the feeling perfectly! Thanks and you too!

whether you took it from a bus window or a tuktuk or took it at a stop over; it’s just so magical.

Thanks! 🙂 I’m a bit disturbed by not being able to remember, though. If I didn’t have photos, would I remember anything at all?!

If we stop taking photos then we would have a vague, half baked memory in our head years from now. If we have a picture then atleast we have the beautiful visual clear in front of us even if the details fade away. 🙂

I agree, and that’s one reason why old photos are very important to me 🙂

That is such an atmospheric photo. I’m inclined to agree that it could make a great book cover… for the right story. As to your first question: I think I need to look up what a tuktuk is! I’d hazard a guess at some kind of jeep, but could be totally wrong!

It must be telepathy, as I saw your comment appear, I was just about to navigate to your site to see if you’ve posted anything! 🙂 Tuktuks are these little boxes (hmm, carts?) on wheels which are popular in Thailand. They’re driven by locals and some have engines, some don’t (those ones resemble bikes, sort of)… The ones with engines are actually a little scary because the drivers sometimes drive insanely fast on the bumpy roads and there are no doors/walls to protect you!

Ah, so that’s what tuktuks are! Thailand does intrigue me, although it’s not uppermost on my list of places to visit. I’m not sure why that is, because so many people love it there. You’ve certainly seen a lot of the world… so many experiences of these strange (‘insanely scary’) modes of transport! 😀
We’ve had another ridiculously hot day in Malta today. September’s the hottest month here – which seems strange to us from more northerly climes. It’s difficult to keep cool anywhere, but we visited a couple more site to add to my growing list of future blog posts. I had hoped o do one about Valletta before we got home, but I’m not sure I can find the time to write it.
Do you know, I think Maltese drivers could match those tuktuk drivers in Thailand. I’m sure they all have a death wish. All rules of the road are totally ignored here. But at least, most of the roads aren’t ‘bumpy’. I’m glad you survived your scary rides! 🙂

I was never a huge fan of Thailand really, don’t know why exactly, but not on my list of places to re-visit, either. I’m really looking forward to all your Maltese posts! But I completely understand not having time to blog during the trip! It’s important to remember to enjoy the present moment when you’re on holiday. Hope you ride safely, despite the drivers all having death wishes! 😀 (PS.What type of book could you see the photo fitting? Just curious! And no stress answering if you have holiday things to do!)

It would depend on a writer’s interests, for a start. I would go for something historical – perhaps of an ancient civilization and a story set therein. A story could also be set more recently, whether adventure tale or romance. That mist/low-lying cloud over the mountains holds mysteries untold… 🙂
Well, that’s the best I can come up with without my dinner inside me. So fight now, we’re off to one of the 6 restaurants this hotel has to offer. It’s 9. 00 here, and I’m starving! 😀

Hello again. I’m still hungry, and need to get downstairs quick! Just remembered our talk about the ‘Meet and Greet’ idea. Here’s a link to one blogger who offered this a couple of weeks ago:

Other bloggers do this, too. I’ve no idea what it entails, but know I should look into it… sometime! 🙂

Great photo! Love the framing of the palm trees and the misty atmosphere.

Thanks, Sabine! 🙂 With this photo, I noticed that the framing seems to become even more important when there are only a couple of colors to work with… (monochrome)…

What does ‘tuktuk’ mean? is that a Thai word? 🙂 We that word in Tagalog/Filipino.

Yeah, it’s a form of transportation in Thailand 🙂 I explained it in an earlier comment. For me, it seemed so regular – interesting to note it’s raised some questions!

Usually when I look at old photos, I remember the moment exactly and can quite easily relive it. Here, I just have no idea…but I feel like the mountain is calling for me 😉
